The choice of fixtures, the type of clamping, and the clamping force are key criteria for minimizing adverse effects that lead to deterioration in the geometric characteristics of the machined surfaces. This article examines the accuracy of cylindrical and conical surfaces under different clamping schemes—in a chuck (three-jaw self-centering) and between a chuck and a center. The accuracy of the machined surfaces has been analyzed and evaluated using statistical methods, with a comparative analysis performed between the mathematical expected value and the variance for the two clamping schemes.
